I Am Archived

If you read my previous posting then you know that last Friday I made my long awaited appearance on “The Louie Free Show.” The interview has now been archived and will be available for three weeks. If you’d like to listen, click here, then click on “Part 1” under December 14. When the file downloads completely, move the button on the player to approximately the ¾ point. My segment comes on just after the Mario Cuomo promo, begins with “Blue Lights,” and runs till the end of the show. Enjoy! And please let me know what you think.

The Louie Interview

Friday I was privileged to be on “The Louie Free Show,” which broadcasts weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. from Youngstown, Ohio, and also streams (and is archived) on the Internet. Louie is an amazing guy who exemplifies what this season—and all seasons—should be about: love, respect, idealism. He is a joy to talk to, and I feel very lucky that he is so passionate about my music, especially the song “Blue Lights.” He was quite taken with the pictures of my parents (who inspired “Blue Lights”) that are on the CD’s back cover: my dad in helmet and goggles stepping into an open-cockpit plane; my mom in a cheesecake self-portrait. We also spoke about other songs on the CD, such as “Midnight in California,” inspired by a trip to Mallorca, which he played along with “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.” The show should be archived Monday or Tuesday; check back here and I’ll tell you where to find my segment (which lasted about half an hour). I’ll also let you know when I’ll be on again, perhaps as soon as one day this week. Thanks again to Louie!

Radio Play Update

Hi! I was supposed to be on “The Louie Free Show” this afternoon but unfortunately the show today was canceled. I’d like to apologize to all my fans around the world who were looking forward to this and perhaps planning their day around it—just kidding! Anyway, Louie’s been playing “Blue Lights” quite a bit, even calling it “an instant Christmas classic.” He’s gotten a good response to it from his listeners in Ohio, and now a café/store there called the Flaming Ice Cube is selling my CD. So if you get a chance, tune in to the show any weekday between 3 and 7 ET to hear “Blue Lights” (and perhaps soon other songs from the CD) on the radio, or listen to recent shows in the archives, and I’ll let you know when Louie’s interview with me has been rescheduled. And by the way, tell me if you notice a trend of only blue lights on Christmas trees…

The CD’s Here! And Thanks for Listening!

Hi everybody! Just a quick word before Thanksgiving. My CD, Blue Lights, is now on sale at CD Baby for the special price of $9.99. To order, just click on the button above. (All the tracks, of course, are still available for downloading in the Snocap store, and will soon be available on iTunes.)

There’s going to be a lot more news in the coming weeks, so please keep checking this page, and my Myspace page, where you can listen to four complete songs and see many more pictures.

I especially want to thank all the people all over the world who’ve already downloaded my songs, and those who've shared with me their thoughts about my music. You are an inspiration!

So, have a safe holiday, and I’ll see you soon.

Peace,
Mary Lyn Maiscott

The CD's on Its Way. Stay Tuned!

That’s my guitar above—at least it used to be. It was stolen from the 13th-century house my husband and I rented in a tiny Mallorcan town in the summer of 2002 (for a belated honeymoon). I’d had that guitar for many years, and although it was very inexpensive, I loved it and still miss it. At least I’ve got this picture, taken in our courtyard shortly before the theft. My latest recording, “Midnight in California,” which will be on Blue Lights, my new CD, was inspired by a British expat in Mallorca, a singer who calls herself Penny Lane. She and I were invited by an Australian couple to sing at a rooftop party one evening. Along with a few original songs, I sang the beginning of the Beatles “You Never Give Me Your Money,” leading into “You Can’t Do That.” My husband, Bob, who wrote the John Lennon bio Nowhere Man, pointed out that it was Paul McCartney’s birthday.

As you can see in the Snocap “store” above, “Midnight in California” and a few other tracks can be downloaded (click on the titles to listen to samples). For now that’s the only place to buy my songs, but in the near future both the CD and individual tracks will be available on CD Baby and iTunes. Soon you’ll also be able to hear the songs on “The Louie Free Show”; click here to listen live to Louie’s show (Mon.-Fri., 3-7 p.m. ET). You can also hear the songs in their entirety on my MySpace page.

Thanks for listening, and check back often for updates!
